Routes to graduation from the ASU Histologic Technician program include both certificate and associate degree options. Both routes provide students with academic and practical training for job entry skills as a histotechnician (HT).

Graduates of the AAS and Certificate programs are eligible to sit for the National Registry Exam administered by the Board of Registry (BOR) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Program of Study

  • Histologic Technician Degree – a two-year Associate of Applied Science Degree
  • Histologic Technician – a one-year program

Students enrolled in the certificate program must have an associate degree or higher and take the MLT courses listed under the last two semesters of the Histologic Technician Degree Program of Study in the program application.
