ASU 1101 is the required course for the FYE Program. This course is designed for students who have less than 12 earned hours of college credit. Though this class is only a 1 credit hour class, it is still important to attend and learn what the class has to offer. Why? Because this class will teach you everything you need to know about Albany State University and how to be successful in college!

In ASU 1101, you will learn the rich history of Albany State University, starting in 1903 when it began. Why? Because learning about where you go to school will help you understand how we do things and why we are so great! It will help you become a RAM, not just in name, but in spirit!

ASU 1101 will also teach you what Academic Integrity is, how to avoid plagiarism, and how to use the resources available to you, like Galileo, the learning centers, and much more!

ASU 1101 requires you to meet with your advisor and plan your next few semesters. Not only will a plan help you know where you are going in the near future, it will keep you on track to graduating in the long run.

Don’t know how you learn best? ASU 1101 helps you figure out what learning style you are and how you can use your strengths and weaknesses to study for your exams. Once you know how you should study, acing that exam won’t seem to daunting.

This class also helps you with managing stress, time, and finances. As a new student, you may not know how to balance these important life skills. ASU 1101 will teach you how, guiding you in the best ways to stay on track financially, tips to relieving stress, and plans to manage time!
