Commencement Ceremonies Update
Albany State University will have an in-person Spring 2021 Commencement. The Classes of 2020 (Spring, Summer and Fall) have also been invited to be recognized.
The Classes of 2020 Commencement and Spring 2021 Commencement will be made up of four ceremonies over a two-day period. The commencement ceremonies will take place at the Albany James H. Gray Civic Center on Saturday, May 8 and Sunday, May 9. Each ceremony will recognize up to 152 students, following health and safety guidelines. Doors will open one hour before each ceremony.

Saturday, May 8
Spring 2021 College of the Arts and Sciences: 10 a.m.
Spring 2021 College of Business, Education and Professional Studies: 4 p.m.
Sunday, May 9
Spring 2021 Darton College of Health Professions: 10 a.m.
Class of 2020: 4 p.m.
To limit face-to-face interaction and to increase the number of guests who may attend, faculty and the concert band will not participate in the ceremony. Music will be pre-recorded. Graduates will be able to walk across the stage after hearing their name announced.
Each student will be provided with up to four (4) tickets each for their family and friends to attend in-person. Information regarding how to pick up tickets will be sent to the graduates via email.
Each attendee must follow CDC guidelines for social distancing. Face masks will be required.
Due to limited seating, the commencement ceremony will be available to stream live on the ASU YouTube channel and Facebook page.
3/23 Graduation Regalia Update
Have you ordered your cap, gown, and tassel? If you wish to participate in the May 8 and 9, 2021 commencement ceremonies, please follow the below instructions.
- You may order your regalia online until April 13, 2021 by clicking here.
- The $75.00 graduation fee covers the cost of the cap, gown, tassel, diploma and diploma
cover. If you did not pay the graduation fee, you may pay at the University Cashier's
Office, located at Rams Central West Campus or click here to pay online. You can check your account to find out if the Graduation Fee is outstanding.
- Even though the graduation fee covers the cap, gown and tassel, you must place an
order for it through Herff-Jones. The cost will show as $0.00 or prepaid in all packages.
- Students graduating with an Education Specialist degree, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree
are required to wear a hood.The hood must be purchased online when you order your cap, gown, and tassel (Education
Specialist $44, Master’s $38, Bachelor’s $35). This is mandatory. Students graduating with an associate degree or certificate do not need to purchase a hood.
All orders must be placed by April 13, 2021. Other memorabilia items may also be purchased online.
